Volunteering with Us

The Museum is dependent upon the large number of volunteers who give so generously of their time and skills in order to keep the Museum open.

What's involved in volunteering at Godalming Museum? We currently have volunteers working in the following areas, and are particularly keen to recruit more people to help on the Front Desk.

  • Front Desk: welcoming visitors, processing sales in the gift shop, providing local information, answering the phone, directing queries

  • Stewarding: serving refreshments in the café, offering information about the galleries and displays.

  • Gardening: keeping our Gertrude Jekyll-inspired garden looking beautiful!

  • Social media and marketing: producing content, taking photos, designing marketing materials

  • Education: supporting school visits, researching new content for workshops and loan boxes

  • Library: answering local history enquiries, research, cataloguing

  • Shop: stock checks and logs, merchandising, administrative support to Buyer

  • Handyperson: painting, maintenance, woodworking
