Charterhouse Art Takeover in Godalming
Tuesday 18th February to Saturday 15th March
Throughout the month of February, Charterhouse School is showcasing artwork created by year groups from 9 to 12. From textiles to photography and painting, there is a diverse range of ideas and media within the exhibition. Charterhouse students have worked extremely hard to wonderfully creative and exciting pieces. Visit Godalming Museum to see a body of students’ work, along with a list of other exhibiting venues.

The exhibition shares Emma’s journey along the River Wey using needlepoint and tapestry pictures.
Lecture: Exploring Space and Looking for Life by Dr David Whitehouse
Wilfrid Noyce Centre, Friday 21st March, 7.30pm-9pm
Where could we find life in space? What would that mean for us? Could anything prepare us for it? Join us for an evening of fascinating discussion and exploration as we delve into these profound questions about life beyond Earth. Dr David Whitehouse is a former BBC Science correspondent and astronomer with a doctorate from Jodrell Bank. Tickets £10. Mary Countess of Meath, A Life Dedicated to Others

Discover the story of Mary Jane Maitland, the 12th Countess of Meath, and visionary founder of The Meath Epilepsy Charity. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about a woman whose philanthropy made such a lasting impact not only in Godalming but around the world.
Learn more about her incredible work and legacy with an exhibition accompanied by a range of handcrafted items inspired by the Countess and made by the people currently supported at The Meath.
Lecture: The Battle of Guildown: Surrey and the Cornish March on London, 1497 - by Julian Humphrys
Friday 16th May, 7.30pm - 9pm at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre
In 1497 thousands of Cornishmen, unhappy at a major increase in royal taxes, made a remarkable march across the south of England in a bid to present their grievances to the government of Henry VII and secure the dismissal of his chief ministers. In this illustrated lecture historian Julian Humphrys will tell the story of that dramatic summer and discuss just how Surrey found itself at the very centre of national event.

Water is Life: an Art Exhibition
Tuesday 20th May to Saturday 14th June
What Next? is a charity whose goal is to support local communities across Waverley Borough in mitigating, preparing and adapting to the impact of climate change and ecological damage. This exhibition brings together Godalming people, local community groups, and schools, who will be contributing their works of art to help convey the concept of ‘Water is Life’.
During half-term What Next Earth Sprites will be performing in the ‘Rubbish Puppet Theatre’ on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th May, 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
